Lake Glass

Image
First: 231216 ---  Last: 231216  As I go about my life, surfing the web as we do, if I see a picture that would be fun or interesting to paint I save it to my PC. Then when its time to choose the next painting I look at what I have downloaded and pick something. I really liked this picture and my version turned out okay. This was the reference.

Alone At Sea

Image
First: 231216 ---  Last: 231216  For a while I practiced making sky's. Then I tried to make water with waves. I didnt succeed with the water much. I needed something to be the subject of the painting. So of course I choose a galleon. Then I needed to learn where to put the ship and how big it should be. So I asked an artist friend of mine who had been helping to mentor me. He taught me about the rule of 3s. You can make a grid of lines like a tic tack toe grid. Then you want to put things on the cross of two lines. The lines also help show how big the subject could be. Its one third the height. This was the reference.

TREES

Image
First: 231216 ---  Last: 231216  The first thing I tried to do with the XP-PEN Tablet was make trees. I took some pictures and then tried to reproduce what I saw. I am still learning the tool / program here. This was the reference.

Bowl of Fruit

Image
First: 231216 ---  Last: 231216  I mostly paint with water colors but most of my paintings have several different flavors of digital "Paints". This was the second drawing I started with my laptop but then finished on the drawing tablet. I am kind of proud of this. The bowl looks a bit round. Painted about 10/19 Here is the reference:

Introduction

FIRST: 231216 --- LAST: 231217 I have started painting pictures. Actually I started a few years ago but I have slowly accumulated a few finished paintings. They are not good. Its more about the therapy than anything. In the beginning I was really impressed with how some programs can emulate water colors, which is what I mostly want to use. I downloaded the one I thought was the most promising. It's a program called Rebelle. I started painting with a stylus on my laptop. My laptop is an i7 and has a "studio mode" but it struggled. I imagine that Rebelle has lots of math going on to emulate water. It tracks where all the water and pigments are and where they should drip. One day was I was at work and randomly talking to the director of lcd-art. I was telling him about my lack of art hardware was a bummer. He told me that he had an extra XP-PEN art tablet and that I could use it. So I set it up connected to my main gamming PC and started painting stuff. ... The other night
